So I did the 5K on Friday and have not been able to blog about it because......drum roll please.....
MY FIRST NEPHEW WAS BORN!!!
The very morning after our 5K, I was headed 2 and a half hours away to meet my precious little nephew.
I promise to post pics of the race and details later....or you can check some of it out at my girl "L's" blog HERE.
I haven't ran, walked, or jogged since Friday, so there is a TON of catching up to do. I hope you all will check me out later this week to view the details.
Thanks for reading!!!
"C" and I talked about your blog tonight during our long run. She said she read this post this afternoon (dang, I'm only just now getting around to it - so sorry!). First, super cutie patootie!!! Congrats!!!!
ReplyDeleteSecond, may I offer a little advice? Since your blog is a journal of your training, you might want to take some time to write a post (for yourself . . . the rest of us are just along for the ride) where you lay out what went well during the HARD 5K, what didn't go well and maybe guess why it didn't go well, and what lessons you learned as a result of your training, your preparation, and from the actual race. You may want to focus on what snacks you ate - was it enough, should you choose more/less differently, how did your hydration go leading up to the race, during the race, etc and those types of things. That way, you'll have a written account of the highs and lows and you'll be able to use that info to help you do even better the next time. Races are a crazy experiment - what/when to eat & drink, what kind of warm up to do, intervals used, regrets, positive things, etc. It takes time to find the perfect "formula" for you.
On a semi-related note, I highly suggest you two do the Runners on Parade 5K (go to FWTC.org for more info) - it has nearly 1,000 people and is the largest 5K's in the area!!! "C" and I are aiming for a PR at that race - it's on 7/9 in FW.
SOooooooo proud of you and "T" for doing that killer race. OHHH, "C" and I talked with some super good runners who did that race and they were sore the next day and they said it was the hardest race they have ever done - yep, you two did a GREAT job and finished it (and weren't last!)
